Another awesome card sketch is up!

This weeks card sketch is posted on the Let's Capture Our Memories Blog! It was a really fun sketch to work with and the challenge was to use embossing of any kind! Here is my card! The white primas minus the inking are available in the Let's Capture Our Memories Store, also the Bella Pattern Paper!

I am so excited, the Amazing Scrap Race is in its final legs and I have all my legs submitted! The last one was an altered item and I LOVE MY ALTERED ITEM! Once it has been posted on the site as we had to email them to Tanya, I am thinking of selling it on ebay!!! We shall see!

Why me Lord?

I have another Challenge done from My Paper Tree House! This Challenge was about grace.
Well I have done a bare it all layout! I loved the layout and then did the journaling in my own handwriting and in someways it made a pretty layout not quite so pretty because I have the worlds worst handwriting but this was just not something I felt should be typed! So here it is and after I will share the journaling as it is quite hard to read! I wish I could have gotten a better photo as the ribbon is really a very pale pink and really adds to the layout!

on the little ticket is says"what did I ever do to deserve loving you and the kindness you've shown."

below the photo
"my childhood was rough, filled with both sexual and physical abuse. In my teens I had a boyfriend, (I so needed love and acceptance) One day after him seeing me slapped around, we decided that if I got pregnant, my parents would have to let us marry. It worked and 3 weeks before I turned 17, I was married. I was so blessed with a healthy baby and a wonderful husband. But then I began to feel shame and embarrasement for the "sin" I had done! I would lie and add one or two years to my age just to hide from my sin and embarrasement. But one day the Lord laid it on my heart that if He forgave me that I must also forgive me. I gave it all to Him! His grace is sufficent for me!"

well there you have it! I have put it up for all the world to see! no hiding anymore!
(the funny part in this is I have always looked young for my age and heard it said to me how young I look and so I wonder who I was trying to fool!)

Life is Hard but God is Good!

Lately I have had a rough ride, actually it has been a roller coaster ride for over 2 years but I know that God has a plan and that God is in control! I will ask that you keep my son in prayer but will leave it at that! Jason needs lots of prayer right now!

I have found a new blog that I really like called the Paper Tree House! There are weekly challenges that are Christian based! I really wanted to do all the challenges last month but life took me by surprise and I did not get them all done, of course one reason too is I am on the LCOM dt and I had commitments there and my commitments come before what I don't have to do and so I got those done but that was it for last month! But I will also admit that I am great with deadlines because they make me do things and so I tend to procrastinate without a deadline, and so I did not do all the challenges and who knows I may just do a bunch later but for now I would like to show you the one I did do!

Here was the challenge: To create a project with a Scripture that is the prayer or desire of your heart!

Now I have to admit that I had a hard time trying to decide WHICH prayer of my heart but I decided to go with one I felt was so important!

LCOM BLOG HOP!

Let's Capture Our Memories is having a blog hop!!! Here is the scoop! This weekend over at LCOM there is a Christmas Card crop going on! So much fun! So head on over and join the crop! We are also having a blog hop with some fun prizes! So check out all my fellow Card Teams blogs!

After my blog, next you will go to Tanya's Blog!

I have a tutorial for you and after that a way to win blog candy!
Here is a tutorial for you on how to do crackling without having to buy all the individual crackle paints! I did crackling on the Christmas card that I made for the crop from my sketch!

You will need 2 acrylic paints in one color if you want a different color showing through the crackle, if you want the crackle to be like the crackle paint ranger sells then you will just use one color!
Then you will need crackle medium which is sold in A.C. Moore, Hobby Lobby, Micheals and yes even Walmart!

Crackling can be done on wood, paper mache and chipboard just to name a few surfaces.
First step is to basecoat your item with the color you want to see through the crackles. If you wnat it the same as rangers crackles then you will base with the same color you will coat it with after the crackle! Totally basecoat your piece! Leave no space unpainted!

After the basecoat is totally dry you will then coat the entire piece with crackle medium, right onto of your painted basecoat!

Next after the crackle medium has dried, which you can hurry by drying with a blow drier. Not the embossing tool! A hair drier or you can just wait like I do! Once the medium has dried you will then coat the top of the medium with your top paint coat. Apply this paint on thick but once the crackling starts DO NOT go over the same spot you already painted or it will tear the crackling off! That is why it is important to go put paint on thick and make it less likely to tear!

Here is my finished piece!! also check out the green and gold frame on my christmas card for SusieQ's sketch!

Now for each person who completes the blog hop, I will put your name in a drawing and the winner will recieve a big bottle of crackling medium and some decoart acrylic paints! I am choosing decoart because that is my favorite brand of acrylic paint! Much thicker then the rest! Also so prima Christmas flowers!

The Pumpkin Farm!

It was the best day at the pumpkin farm! We all had so much fun! From the hayride, to the pumpkin throw, to the spook house, to the corn maze, to the kids 4 sale and of course to the John Deere tractor! It was a day to remember! So with that said, I need to scrap these and more before I forget all the wonderful things of the day! But the best part was being together! My favorite photo is from the way home when I looked up to the front of the van and saw two hands clutched together! Grandpa and Grandson!!!

I really love this photo! Everytime I look at it I want to cry and my heart just aches!!

I am excited!

The rain has stopped and today is going to be a great day! I admit that I need to go to bed and sleep though since it is 1 am!

The reason it is going to be a great day is that I am going to the pumpkin farm with 3 of my grandsons! I plan on lots of photos!!!
I then need to scrap those photos and hopefully having them will give me motivation!!!
Later today I will post so photos but untill then it is off to bed!
Until then here is one from last fall!

Have you ever felt like a heel?

Let's Create Our Memories card team had the cutest card challenge up last week and I made the card but never got it up for the challenge due to our house being torn apart as we are making half our our livingroom into a downstairs bedroom since my father in law is coming to live with us! So my home base computer is not accessable right now just the laptop and usually eveything is downloaded to the homebase.

well anyways it was an image inspiration challenge where the image posted was this gorgeous spiked heeled book and my inspiration from that was the fact that I always feel like a heel when I forget someones birthday! So here is the card i did for that challenge!

the inside says Sorry I forgot your birthday!

when I went to check out the others who had done the challenge I found some great blog candy on Irit Shalom's Blog! It is awesome candy all just because she is looking to get 175 followers so if you follow her blog you will get an entry for this awesome rak!
so go to Irit Shalom's Blog

Where do you get inspiration from? CHALLENGE and Rak

Inspiration is such a neat word! Have you ever thought of what it means? WOW I just love the word and it's meaning!

in·spi·ra·tion    [in-spuh-rey-shuhn] –noun
1. an inspiring or animating action or influence: I cannot write poetry without inspiration.
2. something inspired, as an idea.
3. a result of inspired activity.
4. a thing or person that inspires.
5. Theology .
a. a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul.
b. the divine quality of the writings or words of a person so influenced.
6. the drawing of air into the lungs; inhalation.
7. the act of inspiring; quality or state of being inspired.

What inspires you? For me there are many ways I am inspired, from a photo to a poem, from nature and from things that happen in my life and from challenges that others make.

Earlier today I took a photo of some roses in my garden playing and learning my new camera! I love love love it! Anyways I had not planned it but once I downloaded the photo I then realized I had caught part of a statue in the background. The statue is one that my husbands family had in a bouquet at my mom's funeral. My mom loved roses and so the angel was placed in my rose garden and many times when I work in my garden I ended up talking to my mom or just thinking of her. It brought tears to my eyes when I saw the statue peaking back at me in the photo as I felt like my mom was responding and sharing the joy of how pretty my roses looked! Of course now I am inspired to scrapbook the photo and tell my story!

I want to challenge you to tell me what inspires you? Have you ever had a surprise peak out of a photo for you?
Here is what I will do! Each person that posts a comment telling me what inspires them will get a entry into a drawing for a rak from me! Also to earn a 2nd entry if you post me a link of where you posted and showed something that inspires you! This challenge will end on wed. Aug. 25th and the winner to be announced on Aug. 26th
